$50 Million Powerball Tonight
Tonight’s $50 million Powerball jackpot numbers have been drawn, amid an unprecedented rush for tickets.
The numbers drawn were 2, 5, 11, 21 and 38.
The Powerball number drawn was 33.
Speaking earlier today, lottery officials were agape at the demand for tickets.
‘This is off the scale for the lottery industry,’ said John Vineburg of NSW Lotteries.
‘This jackpot could keep building and building, but with the level of interest out there, I think this run will have to end soon.’
Scientist Tilly Boleyn says fortune favours random numbers.
‘A lot of people have ‘lucky numbers’ which they use for lotto draws’ Ms Boleyn said.
‘Often these are dates of anniversaries, birthdates or numbers that have personal significance, but you should really forget about those numbers and think outside the smaller digits.’
Three of Australia’s top four lottery prizes of $30 million have been won on Powerball.
To win the $50 million jackpot, players must select the five numbers drawn from the first ball-drawing machine and the Powerball, which is drawn from a second ball drawing machine.
