Can you believe a Massachusetts high school, of all places, on the verge of a pregnancy boom.  Apparently 17 girls entered into what they are calling a pregnancy pact.  They finished the school year and now are starting their summer break with babies on the way.

Time.com reports many disturbing facts surrounding this pregnancy pact.  According to Time.com, many of the female population at Gloucester, Mass. began asking for pregnancy test kits from the school clinic.  This tipped of school board officials of the possibility that there was something going on.  Especially when many of the girls were disappointed they were not pregnant.  
This story becomes even more disturbing when it was released that some of the fathers are over the age of 20 with one of the men being 24 years old and homeless.

Reports are showing that with this new outbreak of pregnancies the rate has jumped up 4 times what it was the previous year.

Now the whole town population of 30,000 must deal with this problem and it has been difficult considering the community is largely catholic.  They are not receptive to the idea of introducing and giving access to birth control or other forms of contraception.

Could the news of Jamie Lynn Spears have created a cult following of teens looking for role model?

There are so many questions that are raised when considering this epidemic and we are all striving to find the answers.

One thing is for sure, we don’t want to waste time blaming but rather looking for ways to better the situation.
